Growing up as a young boy, I lived in torment over my sins until they were brought out into the open. My Dad was the instrument used to relieve me of my sense of guilt. He applied the board of education to the seat of my pants. Within all of us there is a sub-conscious desire to be corrected. Deep down, we want to be in right standing, and to know we are doing the right thing. The world tells us to take control, assert ourselves and look out for number one. But there’s really only one way to make things right, and that’s to get right with God.

Come to Jesus and surrender whatever it is, then humbly accept that He took the punishment in our place. When I go to God with my sin, I ask Him for forgiveness and acknowledge that I messed up. I ask Him to cleanse me in the blood of Jesus. I thank Him for His love and thank Him for setting me free. Then I can look up and smile again. And if He can do that for me, then I know He can do the same for you.
